Delivered by Dr Olga Martin-Ortega, this half day course will give an overview of the social and human rights risks in the supply chain of products procured by the higher education sector and the responsibilities of public buyers towards these chains. Attendance at this event will also contribute to your CIPS CPD hours - you will be able to claim 3.5 taught hours via the CIPS website.
Since 2014 the BHRE has organised the Greenwich Socially Responsible Symposium and Public Buyers Forum. The Symposia aim to bring together academia, public buyers and civil society to discuss the most pressing issues in responsible procurement. We have explored multiple topics, from the Social Value Act, to apprentiships in public procurement but our main focus has been to help define the roles and responsibilities of public buyers regarding the human rights of those who make the products they purchase and provide the services they contract.
In 2016 our Symposium coincided witht the Electronics Watch Annual Conference and in 2018 we organised a highly successful joint event with the London Universities Purchasing Consortium.
